US Summer Blockbusters Everyone’s Talking About

Summer movie season is here, and this year’s lineup is a wild mix of fresh ideas and long-awaited comebacks. You’ve got animated K-pop stars hunting demons by night, sequels reuniting beloved characters decades later, and Liam Neeson stepping into Leslie Nielsen’s shoes. Whether you’re into demon-slaying girl groups, curious about body-swapping chaos, or just counting the days until Happy Gilmore tees off again, there’s something for everyone. Grab some popcorn.

K-pop Demon Hunters: Music Meets Monster Fighting

The premise is simple: a K-pop girl group fights demons. Their toughest opponent? A demonic boy band. The animation is bright, the music is catchy, and somehow it works for both kids and adults. I’ve heard young fans ask how they can become demon-slaying pop stars themselves. That’s probably a sign they enjoyed it.

Freakier Friday: Body Swap, Round Two

The 2003 “Freaky Friday” remake was a hit. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are back for a sequel, and fans are curious to see what new body-swapping antics they’ll get into. Curtis has won an Oscar since then. Lohan has had a rougher road but seems to be doing better. The new movie promises more laughs and maybe a few twists on the formula.

The Naked Gun: Neeson Takes Over

A new “Naked Gun” movie seemed unlikely. But here we are, with Liam Neeson playing the lead. Yes, the guy from “Schindler’s List” and “Taken.” It’s an odd fit, which might be the point. The director is Akiva Schaffer from The Lonely Island, so expect a mix of nostalgia and weird, modern humor.

The Fantastic Four: Another Try

Marvel’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps” is the latest attempt to get this team right. Previous versions ranged from forgettable to disastrous. This one has better visuals and a genuinely scary villain in Galactus, who eats planets. The heroes themselves might not be all that memorable, but the movie sets up a solid foundation for future MCU stories.

Happy Gilmore 2: The Return of Golf-Punching Chaos

Adam Sandler is back as Happy Gilmore, the hockey player who turned golf into a contact sport. The sequel includes cameos from Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce, and the feud with Shooter McGavin is apparently going to boil over. Sandler co-wrote it with his longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, so expect the same high-energy nonsense that made the original a cult classic. If this does well, maybe we’ll get a “Billy Madison” sequel too.
